This Policy applies to Squiz Pty Ltd and its affiliates, subsidiaries, business divisions/units, joint venture companies and operating companies (Squiz) and employees thereof.

Our commitment extends beyond business success to encompass environmental stewardship, ethical conduct, philanthropic engagement, and economic responsibility. We aim to integrate these principles into our global operations on every level, ensuring that our technology serves as a force for positive change in the communities we serve.

4.1 Carbon Neutrality Commitment
Squiz has committed to becoming a carbon-neutral organization by 2040, as detailed in our Environmental and Carbon Emissions Policy. This ambitious goal focuses on addressing our largest carbon emission sources through systematic reduction strategies and thoughtful operational changes. We actively procure critical services from vendors with equivalent or superior environmental policies and practices, ensuring our supply chain aligns with our sustainability goals.

4.2 Sustainable Operations
Our approach to sustainable operations encompasses comprehensive waste reduction and recycling programs across all global offices. We prioritize responsible disposal of electronic waste, recognizing the environmental complexities associated with technology equipment. Business travel is carefully evaluated, with virtual collaboration tools preferred whenever possible. When travel is necessary, we purchase carbon offsets for all domestic and international flights undertaken by staff for business purposes.

4.3 Green Technology Partnerships
We maintain strategic partnerships with environmentally responsible service providers. AWS, our cloud infrastructure provider, has committed to reaching net-zero carbon by 2040 and provides us with carbon footprint monitoring tools. Cloudflare, a significant service provider, powers its operations with 100% renewable energy. Apple, our default technology supplier for computers and smartphones, maintains carbon neutrality and has committed to a 100% carbon neutral supply chain by 2030.

5. Ethical Responsibility

5.1 Whistleblower Protection
The Squiz Whistleblower Policy provides a secure framework for reporting unethical, illegal, fraudulent, or undesirable conduct involving our organization. This policy ensures that individuals can make reports confidentially and without fear of intimidation, disadvantage, or reprisal. We maintain robust protections and measures to support those who courageously speak up about misconduct.

5.2 Equal Opportunity and Anti-Discrimination
Our Equal Opportunity and Anti-Discriminatory Policy demonstrates our commitment to providing a safe, flexible, and respectful environment for our people and customers. We maintain zero tolerance for all forms of discrimination, bullying, and sexual harassment. This policy ensures that every individual in our organization has equal access to opportunities regardless of their background, identity, or personal characteristics.

5.3 Family and Domestic Violence Support
Squiz provides assistance to employees, family members, or work colleagues who may be experiencing or impacted by domestic and family violence. Support includes access to national key contacts, flexible work arrangements, additional leave entitlements, safety planning, and referral pathways to professional support services.

5.4 Work-Life Balance Initiatives
Our Right to Disconnect policy supports employees' need to maintain healthy boundaries between work and personal life. Employees are empowered to refuse to monitor, read, or respond to contact outside working hours, ensuring adequate rest and recovery time. Additionally, our Squiz Flex policy provides autonomy to employees in determining where, when, and how they work, supporting equity and inclusion by making work more accessible for those living in remote areas or with caregiving responsibilities.

5.5 Digital Accessibility
All customer services can be delivered in accordance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), making content more accessible for people with visual, hearing, motor, and cognitive impairments. Our own website complies with WCAG standards, demonstrating our commitment to digital inclusion. We provide comprehensive tools and support to help our customers create accessible digital experiences that serve all users regardless of ability.

5.6 Responsible use of AI
The AI tools offered by Squiz are developed with social responsibility at their core. Our AI solutions are designed to support and respect human values, including accountability, inclusiveness, reliability, safety, privacy, security, and fairness. We regularly audit our AI systems to ensure they remain unbiased and transparent, preventing any potential misuse while maximizing their positive impact on society.

  • Examples of behaviours that support this policy include:
  • Squiz selects ethical AI models (eg we use Anthropic in the Squiz DXP as their models are considered the most ethically trained models of the top LLMs)
  • We minimize environmental impact by selecting the smallest model capable of doing the work
  • Our approach is to design technologies that:
    • Apply to use cases that benefit humans
    • Avoid controversial use-cases (eg image generation) and the risk of harm is low
    • Keep a human in the loop
    • Build governance and explainability into our use of AI

Although legislation in our operating jurisdictions does not require compulsory Modern Slavery statements, Squiz is committed to the eradication of modern slavery globally.
